Postural Syndrome

Postural syndrome — sometimes referred to as postural stress or postural strain — describes pain or discomfort that results from prolonged static postures or repetitive positions.

It’s increasingly common in patients who sit for long hours, use screens frequently, or maintain poor body mechanics during work, study, or sleep.

Symptoms of postural syndrome include:

  • A dull, aching pain in the neck, shoulders, mid-back, or lower back

  • Discomfort that worsens the longer you stay in one position

  • Stiffness, fatigue, or joint pain — especially after sitting or standing too long

Contributing factors may include:

  • Forward head posture

  • Rounded shoulders

  • Pelvic imbalance while sitting or standing

  • Sedentary routines and lack of movement variability

At Oak Chiropractic, we assess your posture, spinal movement, and muscular balance to identify areas of stress and strain. Our approach focuses on:

  • Gentle chiropractic adjustments to restore normal joint function

  • Postural retraining to build awareness and control

  • Stretching and strengthening exercises to correct imbalances
